Movie Review: The Social Network is the cinematic drama behind one of the biggest social phenomenons, the invention of Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin. The film depicts an intense and corrupted fictional behind the scenes on the rise of Facebook’s overwhelming success, that we would never get the chance to experience in real life. Not to beat around the bush, I’m in absolute LOVE with this fantastic golden work from the prominent and consistently masterful director – David Fincher! In fact, I personally think this is his most well-made film or it’s just my personal favorite out of the rest of his awesome line of awesome movies. Fincher proves once again that his perfectionism does pay off to extraordinary results, his great attention to detail on camera angles, character positioning, their minor gestures and the way they should express in a given sentence, all perfectly combined with the vastly brilliant editing, one of the best I have ever seen on film. Honestly, I’m not sure if the real Mark Zuckerberg is anything like what Jesse Eisenberg, but it really doesn’t matter because most of what the film portrays or depicts is fictional and dramatized, so it didn’t stop Jesse Eisenberg from playing a terrific role as this socially-awkward genius of sorts that was surprisingly really intimidating, definitely a great achievement for his career! Even though Jesse was the leading role, my favorite pick among the talented cast would absolutely be Andrew Garfield, I thought he gave a strong sense of charisma and a powerful fierce demeanor to his character, I would dare say this is one of my favorite performances of all time <3. Justin Timberlake is simply a talented man, he can sing, he can dance, he can even act! He plays as Sean Parker, the manipulative and sweet-talking entrepreneur so incredibly well 😀 Without giving anything away, I loved his performance, hated his character. Above all, what was the main wow factor of the entire film was how immensely suspenseful it was with just their dialogues and emotions alone, this is done to perfection with Aaron Sorkin’s amazing fast-paced script (that truly deserved their Oscar win 🙂 ), the great use and edits in camera shots to enhance the intentions of a scene (also won an Oscar which I’m super happy about) and the mounting tension built from the verbal violence between the characters. When I say verbal violence, I don’t mean how many swear words were used or how vulgar the film was, but how intimidating and brutal the actors were at their back-to-back dialogue that really gets under your skin as you see their minds clash against each other. To top it off, the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross brought chills down my spine at how flawless the score was implemented with the scenes, it certainly is one of my favorite OSTs (Original Soundtrack) from films ever. It’s safe the say, this film is in my Top 10 favorite films of all time (and I watched a LOT of films so it’s saying a lot) I think this isn’t just an amazing achievement for David Fincher, but also for movie history as our generation’s grand masterpiece. ❤
