Movie Review: Her is the pioneer of the possibilities and stretches of love. The film is essentially a beautiful romance, that was executed to perfection by any means from the unlikely plot. Spike Jonze‘s futuristic vision on the domination of technology is hauntingly possible and greatly realistic. Joaquin Phoenix couldn’t be more perfectly casted and showed an incredibly powerful performance as Theodore Twombly, the heart spoken writer who blends naturally with the film’s soft, mellow and melancholy environment. One of the strongest character studies ever put to film, the portrayal of Theodore’s story was intimate and dives deep into his personal thoughts. Nonetheless, the movie is surrounded with great performances overall that shows truth and reality onto relationships. Most importantly, Scarlett Johansson proves her unbelievable acting range when she is capable to grab the audience’s hearts as Samantha, with only her vocals, it’s pure magic and works exceptionally well with Joaquin. On the course of the story, it feels original and innovative like none other, that also slowly ventures into a personal side of not only the characters and their past, but also the audiences as they reflect on their own past and their love lives. The cinematography was beautiful, alluring, perfect, any word to describe any form of beauty can be used for how amazing this film looked, the visual effects, the color pallete, the use of focus. This film has always been my absolute favorite out of the 100s of movies that I have watched, it has everything I would want in a film, an amazing story, heartfelt characters, strong creativity, beautiful visuals, brilliant and authentic script, and an uplifting soundtrack by Arcade Fire! That is also hailed my favorite movie soundtrack as it’s rich in euphoria and memory that can tell a story with the music alone. Her is what I describe to be a near-perfect film, that is much more than just a movie, it is something much deeper that not any film has yet to show.
